About Us

 

The office of Dean of Student Affairs (DoSA) is responsible for welfare of students encompassing administration of hostels, students non-academic activities including sports, cultural and technical activities. These tasks are carried out primarily by three bodies.

  • Hostel Coordinating Unit (HCU)
  • Student Gymkhana
  • Student Wellness Centre (SWC)

 

The hostel coordinating unit (HCU) operates under the guidance of Associate Dean of Student Affairs. He coordinates and interfaces with all the hostel wardens, hostel managers, and associated staff. Wardens of various hostels are faculty members of IIT Bombay while hostel managers are staff members of the institute. The day-to-day activities of the hostels are looked after by the hostel managers and elected hostel council of students led by the general secretary of the respective hostel.

Students Gymkhana encompasses both the has a group of highly qualified Sports Officers and other instructors to run all the activities. Coordination to these is provided by three faculty members who officiate as Chairperson (Sports), Chairperson (Cultural) and Chairperson (Technical). A key role is played in coordinating the activities and in representing the students by an apex group of elected General Secretaries including sports, cultural, technical, academic and hostel affairs.

Student wellness centre (SWC) acts as a key support system for the students of the institute as far as their mental well-being is concerned. SWC is headed by a Chairperson who is a faculty member of the institute and the day-to-day operations of the SWC are looked after by in-charge SWC.
