Surya

Welcome to IIT Bombay! I congratulate you on joining one of the best educational and research institutes in the country. Getting admission here is a big achievement, and you should be proud of yourself.

At IIT Bombay, you will get many opportunities to learn, grow, and discover new things. This campus is not just about studies – it is also about building friendships, learning life skills, and becoming a confident and responsible person.

As the Dean of Student Affairs, my team and I are here to support you throughout your journey. We take care of student life outside the classroom – your hostels, activities, health and well-being, clubs, sports, and more. If you ever need help, guidance, or just someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We know the first year can feel exciting but also a little overwhelming. That’s completely normal. Take your time to adjust, be kind to yourself, and don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for help.

Enjoy your time here, make good use of the opportunities, and try to become not only a good engineer/scientist but also a good human being.

Wishing you a happy and successful journey at IIT Bombay.

Dean of Student Affairs

Atul

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to this new chapter of your life at our institute. As first-year students, you're about to embark on a journey full of discovery, growth, and memorable experiences.

One of the most significant parts of your student life will be your time in the hostels. Our campus hostels are more than just a place to stay — they’re vibrant communities where friendships are formed, ideas are shared, and lifelong memories are made. You’ll meet people from different backgrounds and cultures, and that diversity is something we deeply value and encourage.

We’ve made every effort to ensure that your hostel stay is comfortable and safe. From well-maintained rooms and hygienic dining facilities to common rooms, study areas, Wi-Fi, and sports spaces — you’ll find an environment that supports both academic focus and personal well-being.

Our wardens, associate wardens, hostel managers, and staff members are here to support you, and the Student Affairs Office is always open to address any concerns you may have. Remember, your hostel is your home away from home, and we hope you’ll treat it — and each other — with respect, responsibility, and care.

Once again, welcome to the family. We’re excited to see all that you’ll achieve in the years ahead.
